Brooklands College were delighted to host the Surrey FE SEN Environmental Competition Finals. NESCOT, Activate Learning, East Surrey College and Brooklands College attended the finals with their winning group of SEN students and tutors to find an overall winning group. The event was hosted by our very own Lee Chantry, who made everyone smile and helped ease some student presentation nerves.
The students demonstrated excellent confidence and communication skills presenting their projects and they were all supported by their amazing teachers. All the projects took environmental challenges head on – recycling Christmas trees, influencing others to reduce their use of paper, recycling clothes and turning waste into jewellery.
The Brooklands Team: The Environmentables was made up of the following students: Herbie Chenery, Stacey Broomfield, Milly Currier, Benjamin Hooper, Benjamin Housley, Ciaran Payne, Elle-Maree Richardson, Georgina Taylor-Howick, Chelsey Thurlow, Jennifer Trieu, and led by tutor, Ollie Blair. They presented their project with confidence and answered questions from the judges. Their project was aimed at reducing the amount of paper we all use. They were very passionate about stopping the destruction of trees, protecting the environment and how we can make a difference by using technology in classrooms and recycling.
Each group presented their Environmental projects excellently with the support of their teachers. The panels of judges from our local Rotary Clubs, listened to each presentation and asked a few questions before deciding on a final winner.
Winners:
The winning group was East Surrey College with their fantastic recycling project, turning waste into jewellery. Well done to them and to everyone involved in this fantastic collaboration of colleges.
