One of our graduates, Jack Wood, returned to see us last week to tell us about his exciting new role as Trainee Model Maker at McLaren Racing. What a great achievement!
Jack recently graduated with a 2:1 in Motorsport Technology at Brooklands College.
Why did you choose motorsport
“I’ve always had a passion for cars and racing. I think my obsession started as a kid when my dad introduced me to Top Gear. At about GCSE level I decided that Motorsport and F1 was the direction I wanted to go, so a Motorsport Degree seemed like the best course to get me there.”
Why did you choose Brooklands
“After visiting a few universities I was hesitant that it was going to be exactly what I wanted. My mum actually found out about Brooklands and we decided to go to the open day. I was very quickly enticed by all the cars they had on display, and the prospect of getting my hands dirty as part of the course.”
What are your next steps?
“I have just accepted a position as Trainee Model Maker at McLaren Racing. I start on 8th March. It is such a great opportunity.”
My Brooklands Experience
“Going to Brooklands was great fun. I was supported with everything I did and the staff always made time for me – especially Richard. Even after I left, I was still supported with my next step, and finding a job.”
Thank you so much Jack for coming back to update us on life after Brooklands. We wish you all the best in the future.
