The Inspirational Marie-Rose

Brooklands College has always welcomed learners of all ages and abilities.

Our school leaver courses lead the way in employability skills, in areas such as Construction, Engineering, Travel & Tourism, Catering, and Hair and Beauty whilst adult learners opt to ‘improve their skills’ through a variety of part-time courses.

Marie Rose-Hall from Byfleet has decided to improve her skills, and at 90 years old, has started a basic computer skills course at our Weybridge campus.

“I wanted to learn how to use the computer and I think it’s good to do new things and I’ve found the whole thing invigorating. My tutor Sue is just so patient,” exclaimed an overwhelmingly positive Marie-Rose. “There is a real mix of ages, and it’s so lovely to learn with other people.”

A retired French teacher, Marie-Rose, who worked at George Abbott School, explained that computer skills were not needed when she was teaching back in the 1980/90’s. She attended an Open Event in October following the recommendation of a friend.

Learn a new skill or kick-start your career with a part-time course at Brooklands College. With courses starting imminently, come to our Open Event on Saturday 12th January, 10am to 12noon, and enrol on the day.
