A ‘Good’ Outcome!

We are delighted to announce we have maintained our GOOD rating, following a full Ofsted inspection in December.

The report highlights the good work of the College and our commitment to meeting the needs of the local community, our very good links with employers and industries, for example, hair & beauty, motor sport, aeronautical engineering and construction, and the professionalism of the teachers.

The report, which was published on 16th January 2020, rated the college as ‘Good’ for overall effectiveness and ‘Good’ in all other inspection areas to include the quality of education, programmes for young people, adults, high needs, behaviours and attitudes, and personal development.

Summarising what it is like to be a student at Brooklands, the inspectors commented that;

• Students feel part of a community and enjoy their courses, many have high aspirations because of the encouragement and guidance of staff, who foster a close community between learners and teachers;
• Most students and apprentices have clear career aims and demonstrate positive attitudes to learning;
• Students with high needs feel valued. They overcome the many social barriers they often start with and as a result, they move to higher level courses and develop the confidence to undertake supported internships and work experience;
• Students use extensive workshops and production facilities to develop a high standard of practical skills.

Principal Christine Ricketts, was delighted with the outcome and felt that it accurately reflected the dedication of the teaching staff saying;

“The report recognises the excellent work of the College, our focus on students and their career pathways, and our commitment to meeting the needs of our local community. We are extremely proud of our staff and students, and of the Good outcome.”
