R1 Motorsport Triumph!

Throughout the year, students on the Oxford Brookes Motorsport Foundation Degree, and Level 3 Vehicle Technology (Motorsport) course have been assisting the team at R1 Motorsport, re-preparing their modified Peugeot 205 for the 2019 BTRDA Rallycross Championship.

In October, the team completed the final touches- a new clutch, flywheel and suspension geometry- and sent the car off on the 450-mile journey to Knockhill Race Circuit in Scotland.

The 205 ran faultless all weekend with minor repairs, setting constant times throughout the day, and resulting in a good position on the grid for the final. A trouble free final saw success for the R1 Motorsport team and driver, securing the Modified Class Championship in the Classic Car Class.

Company owner and Brooklands Lecturer, Ryan Stutchbury said: “Thank you to the college for the use of the workshop, and to the students help in re-preparing the car throughout the year.”
