On 30th September 2021, we were delighted to hold the official opening event for Brooks Hair & Beauty in Ashford, Surrey. The department and the college have been very pleased to see the building and development of the brand new salon located on Ashford High Street over the past year. The finishing touches were implemented at the start of this year and there was a soft launch of the new professional salon in spring time. The grand opening was a great success after much anticipation by the local residents, clients and all involved.
The evening commenced with a speech by Christine Ricketts, Principal/CEO. “The college sees the salon as being a key asset in the Ashford community. The industry standard salon is a professional working environment that will enable our students to achieve the occupation standards that they will need to progress on their career journeys.”
This was followed by the cutting of the ribbon of which was held in place by two of our Level 3 Beauty Therapy learners, Freya Lawler and Charlotte Barrett. Spelthorne Borough Council’s Mayor, Cllr Ian Harvey, accompanied by Cllr Olivia Rybinski, performed the cutting of the ribbon ceremony to officially open the salon to the community.
“It’s great to be here today, I’m delighted to come along and formally open this facility. Brooklands College has been a cornerstone for what we’re doing in Spelthorne and they are the only further education college in the borough. It’s great that this is on the high street, they are teaching practical skills and I believe that it’s hugely important to the borough. We wish you all well to the staff, and the students for the future. I would like to formally declare this open.” – Cllr Ian Harvey
Many local dignitaries attended the official opening event as well as industry experts, former learners and salon clients. Level 3 Beauty learners gave complimentary hand and arm massages on the night whilst professional hair care company milk_shake also participated in the event by offering hair styling to attendees. Skincare brand Eve Taylor also had a display with samples on offer and the first 50 attendees received a celebratory goodie bag.
Brooks Hair & Beauty proudly serves the local community, offering quality treatments which are delivered by Brooklands College learners. The new facility is an exciting place for both full-time and part-time learners to train to industry standards dealing with real clients.
