HNC/HND Policing

Are you interested in a career in Policing? A really great place to start is at Brooklands College in Weybridge. This two year programme studying Policing at Level 4 and Level 5 gives you a fantastic foundation on which to build your application for a Policing career. You will study topics such as Leadership in Policing, a practical application to Criminology within the Police Service, and even Counter Terrorism.

One unit ‘Work-based experience’ places a requirement on the student to undertake voluntary work with their local Police Service. You can take on a role as a Special Constable, out on the streets working with a Community based team with full Police Powers, or work in a support role providing that vital back up to the Operational teams on the ground. All invaluable experience that will give you a wonderful understanding of the work of the Police, and give them a great understanding of you, your work ethic, and your potential to fill the boots of those who have served the Queen and their local community in years gone by.

Brooklands College has a great working relationship with its local Police Forces, with a number  of our students working in both Surrey and the Metropolitan Police in a variety of roles from Uniformed Constable, or Helicopter crew, right through to Call handler in the Contact Centre.

We have a great team working on our Policing and Public Services Courses with a lot of former students and guest speakers from Surrey Police to call on to bring their experience and expertise to lessons. The course lead at Brooklands College is a retired former Surrey Police Senior Officer with 30 plus years of a rich and varied Police experience to share. The benefits for you as you take those first steps into Policing will really help you to make the right choices.

Contact Brooklands College by email on Philip.Waters@Brooklands.ac.uk if you would like any further information, or alternately access the UCAS web-site and make your application on-line. We will get back to you as soon as possible, and very much look forward to welcoming you to Brooklands College in the new academic year.
