Hair & Beauty Students Show Off their Creativity & Skill in Competition

Hair and Beauty students displayed an outstanding level of talent in our annual hair and beauty college competition.

Students competing ranged from Level 1’s who created an array of red carpet looks to Level 3’s who had their dress rehearsal for the National Hairdressing competition in Blackpool producing some amazing Avant Garde style designs. The Level 2 hair and beauty students did a great job at covering looks from all.  All styles were supported by a mood board that the students have worked very hard on over the last month.

Tension mounted as the competitors were given 30 minutes to finish their artistic and imaginative creations whilst judges, made up of well-respected industry experts appraised each student.

The judges included Martin Humphries Roberts-Hunt from New Image Hair Salon, Jane Hebditch from The Runnymead Hotel Spa, stylist – James Johnson and Teresa Bullock a former lecturer at Brooklands College who is currently working within the hair and beauty industry.  All the judges were really impressed with the commitment, hard work, skill and creativity of all the competing students.

The competitors were marked on their creativity, originality and the overall finished effect.  The successful night was rounded off with an awards ceremony for the winners which were attended by the Principal Gail Walker, guest judges and a large crowd of spectators.

Well done to all the staff involved in making the night a great success for the department.  Next stop….. Blackpool!
