Excelling at West Surrey Racing

Motorsport Engineering is an exciting subject to choose here at Brooklands College. Our courses provide learners with specialised skills and knowledge in fault rectification & diagnostics, engineering design and motorsport preparation & inspection. Many of our students progress onto working in the industry with various racing teams, one of which includes the West Surrey Racing. We caught up with former students Carl and Adam as well as current student Dom who are proudly working with this prominent UK racing team.

“Brooklands College gave me the contacts needed to get into the sport to start with.” Carl is currently working as a Team Manager at West Surrey Racing. He studied Level 3 Motorsport Engineering at Brooklands College and did his first work experience placement at West Surrey Racing. “I then continued working with WSR whilst studying and eventually completed my degree in Motorsport Technology a couple of years ago. If it wasn’t for the flexibility or the contacts that Brooklands College gave me, I don’t think i’d be where I am today.”

Adam is currently working as a Number 2 Mechanic at West Surrey Racing. He studied Motorsport Engineering at Brooklands College for two years. “Brooklands allowed me the contacts to get into motorsport and progress to number 2.”

Dom is currently working as a Number 2 Mechanic at West Surrey Racing. He has been studying at Brooklands College for 3 years now. Having completed his Level 2 Motorsport Engineering qualification, he is now studying the Motorsport Engineering Foundation Degree part time. “Being at Brooklands College gives me the flexibility to study and work at the same time. This will be beneficial to my career. The lecturer has always been so helpful and supportive.”
