Students brave the weather to give something back

Students and staff from across the College took part in Community Day on Tuesday 12th March, giving something back and helping out within the local community and charities.

Our Child Studies and Health & Social Care students boarded a mini-bus to Walton Firs Activity Centre, where they fully embraced the digging and log clearing tasks. They were joined by ‘storm Gareth’ yet didn’t allow the wet weather to dampen their spirits in the outdoors. The group were rewarded with a BBQ for lunch and were praised by the staff at Walton Firs Activity Centre for their hard work and efforts in far from ideal conditions.

Uniformed Public Services students organised the equipment of a Surrey Search and Rescue crew, cleaning and ensuring the safety of their equipment. A group of other students also helped to clean the local surroundings by litter picking.

Level 3 Business students studying at the Weybridge campus visited Whiteley Village, a thriving retirement community in Walton-on-Thames, on Tuesday.

The students volunteered their time helping to transform the communal remembrance garden ready for the residents to use during the Spring and Summer months.

Year 2 Sport students also worked as part of a team to clean up the gym facilities at the Weybridge campus.

Well done to everyone for taking part!
