Brooklands College hosted a Hair and Beauty competition on Tuesday 15th January. In a test of time, attention to detail and skill, Hairdressing and Beauty students went above and beyond to impress a carefully selected judging panel.
The judges were esteemed industry professionals, Martin Roberts-Hunt, David Volt-Baker, Jane Hedditch, Jaz Jandu and former Brooklands Beauty student, Paulina Lipiec. Martin – a salon owner – has worked with Brooklands College for the last 12 years with the Apprenticeships team whilst Paulina is a therapist specialising in laser and facial treatments. David is the global ambassador for luxury haircare brand, Milkshake, and has been nominated for various British Hairdressing awards over the last five years. Jane, Spa Manager at the award-winning Runnymede Hotel, has 28 years of experience within the industry and works very closely with the College to support the development and transition of our Beauty students into the industry.
In a race against time, hairspray, rollers and brushes were all key ingredients throughout in this much-anticipated competition.
Across four different categories and groups emerged five winners. This included an eye-catching entry, in the ‘red carpet look’ category, by Level 1 student, Kerena Crease. Our Level 3 Media Make-up, Hairdressing and Theatrical Special Effects students also took part in a reflection of new and experimental ideas.
