BBC News reports new funding for Youth Hub

After the covid-19 pandemic, the Youth Hub was established in 2021 to help 16-24 year olds find or return to work.

With a focus on growing their skills and employment opportunities, the Youth Hub offers a multitude of services to help facilitate the growth and experience required to help young people into employment, apprenticeships, placements or work experience.

By actively working with local businesses and communities, the Youth Hub hosts training programmes and provides advice and guidance services for young people who are unemployed, facing redundancy, are universal credit claimants or those who are struggling to sustain employment.

In the last 10 months, 125 young people have been supported through the Youth Hub, with 44 young people finding employment and a further 41 young people received additional training to enhance their CV.

BBC News has also featured the brilliant news that both Runnymede and Elmbridge Borough Council have secured a total of £54,000 in funding to continue their support services for young people through the Youth Hub from the Department of Work and Pensions. This continued support from the government will allow the Youth Hub to continue their good work and support of young people.

In a joint statement, the 4 co-leaders of Runnymede county council expressed their delight at news of their continued funding: “It is vital that help is made available which is why we’re delighted to have secured funding from government to invest in this important service.”
