New Electric Vehicle Workshop

Brooklands College Engineering Department is excited to announce it’s ULCV (Ultra Low Carbon Vehicle) – Electric Vehicle Workshop is ready! Our staff have been trained and we are ready to promote and teach ULCV ownership awareness, safety and maintenance.

New electric vehicles will soon be added to the workshop at our Weybridge Campus, allowing our Engineering – Motor Vehicle students to get hands-on training with modern cars. Our students/future mechanics will receive firsthand experience of electric and hybrid cars thanks to our new workshop, equipment and training.

In November 2020, as part of the Government’s 10 point plan for a green industrial revolution, it was announced that the sale of new petrol and diesel cars would be phased out by 2030 and that all new cars and vans would be zero emission by 2035.

Therefore, learning how to work with electric vehicles is essential for everyone training in this field.

Alan Wells, our Head of Engineering said:

This is an exciting opportunity for Brooklands College. Our new facilities and training enables us to upskill lecturers and students, enabling us to stay up to date and providing green skills for a sustainable future.

Later in 2023, we will be offering a number of EV courses and current motor vehicle students will soon have the opportunity to train using our electric cars in the workshop.
