Maintenance, Installation and Repair for Engineering and Manufacturing


LEVEL 2: T LEVEL FOUNDATION YEAR

The T Level foundation year in Maintenance, Installation and Repair for Engineering and Manufacturing course is designed for those that are looking to progress on to a T Level programme but do not yet meet the entry requirements.

Entry Requirements: 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above (including English and Maths). If you do not have a grade 4 ind English and Maths, you will be required to study for this alongside your course.

LEVEL 3: T LEVEL

This course is suitable for anyone interested in a career in maintenance, installation and repair for engineering and manufacturing.

Entry Requirements: A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 9-4, including both English and Maths.

Based at our Weybridge Campus, you will have access to the latest equipment and workshops and will be taught by our industry qualified and experienced teaching team.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN ON THIS COURSE

CORE CONTENT

Students will develop an understanding of a broad range of issues relevant to the sector, including:

  • working within the Engineering and Manufacturing Sectors – an understanding of how materials, conditions and context influence design processes and products
  • essential mathematics for engineering and manufacturing – a knowledge and understanding of mathematics including standard matrices and determinants and standard trigonometry
  • materials and their properties – understanding material processing techniques and their effects on materials and material quality, the condition of materials, how these are managed, and materials testing methods and techniques
  • business, commercial and financial awareness – basic commercial principles including commercial priorities and markets, customers/clients/partners and resource allocation

OPTIONS TO SPECIALISE

In addition to the core content, each student will also complete at least one module of occupation-specific content.
The specialisms available in the T Level in Maintenance, installation and repair for engineering and manufacturing are:

  • maintenance engineering technologies: mechanical
  • maintenance engineering technologies: mechatronic
  • maintenance engineering technologies: electrical & electronic
  • maintenance engineering technologies: control & instrumentation
  • maintenance, installation, and repair: light and electric vehicles

Students are required to take part in a substantial industry placement that runs for a minimum of 315 hours (45 days) overall and will therefore give students practical insights into their sector and an opportunity to embed the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom.

Progression

This technical qualification will support students onto a range of progression routes including employment, higher education and higher apprenticeships.
