This course will follow on from the Subsidiary Diploma giving learners further in-sight into varied aspects of the Emergency Services and Armed Forces helping to further develop essential skills and knowledge in respect of the Uniformed Public Services.
Completion of the Extended Diplomacan mean progression onto the HNC/D in Policing and Uniformed Services course at the College.
People who choose to work in the Uniformed Public Services, whether this be the Emergency Services or the Armed Forces, often choose to do so because they like variety and a challenge. These jobs are not conventional desk jobs and staff working in them support each other in order to fulfil their roles successfullly.
All courses start with a 4 day ‘Bootcamp’ to ensure that both teamwork and discipline, particularly self-discipline are embedded into the course. There are a variety of trips throughout the year in the UK, which are great fun and help to develop your team work and communication skills. . Students are required to wear a uniform one day a week, on camp and on any trips and will learn drill and inspection getting them ready for all aspects of the Public Services.
Some of the units you will study are:
• International organisations and human rights
• Land navigation by map and compass
• Understanding the impact of War
• Conflict and Terrorism on Public Services
• Employment in the Uniformed Public Service
• Current and media affairs in Public Services
• Fitness testing and training for the Uniformed Public Services
Those looking to progress to a career within the Uniformed Public Services or might be considering going onto higher education at the end of 2 years.
Students must be willing to take part in community fundraising work and willing to participate in physical activity, as this is a requirement to achieve certain components of the course.

There is an initial contribution to be paid at the start of the course for uniform and induction. You would also be expected to make a contribution to take part in other trip opportunities like Boot Camp and expeditions. More details on costs will be provided during the application stages.
Students are allocated a certain amount of free printing, after which a small fee will be incurred.
5 GCSE passes grades 4-9 (including English and maths) or successful completion of Level 2 Sport & Public Services course.
On completion of this course with the right grades and UCAS points you can progress onto Higher Education whether at university or onto the HNC/HND in Policing and Uniformed Services course at Brooklands College.
You can consider a career in the Uniformed Public Service sectors or managerial work.
