This is a one year course that will include practical and theory work. All aspects of hairdressing including expanding commercial skills advanced cutting, colouring and perming techniques, long hair work, extensions and competition work.
This is a one year course that will include practical and theory work. All aspects of hairdressing including expanding commercial skills advanced cutting, colouring and perming techniques, long hair work, extensions and competition work. Learners will be expected to organise external and internal events as part of their qualification. Students will be expected to wear a uniform and present themselves in a professional manner as practical work will be assessed in the commercial salon. You will need to work in a commercial salon, one day per week. During the course you will also be enrolled onto the tutorial, enrichment programme and suitable English and Maths programmes dependant on GCSE/ Functional Skill Results.
Brooklands College has specialist facilities for hair and beauty courses, linked to the on-site Inspire Hair & Beauty Academy on both campuses. There will be a work based element which will prepare you for employment in the industry. You will also have the opportunity to take part in competitions and all students are expected to wear uniforms and present themselves in a professional manner.
Any students moving on from Diploma level 2 in Hairdressing or students with the equivalent qualifications in hairdressing.
Continuous assessment via practical assignments and written evaluations.
A uniform and a hairdressing kit will need to be purchased (information will be given to you at interview). Visits may include: professional exhibitions, an international visit and a chance to take part in competitions and Goldwell colouring, perming and product training (these events are part of National CPD requirements). Students are allocated a certain amount of free printing, after which a small fee will be incurred
5 GCSE passes at grade 4 or above (including English and maths) or Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing.
End of year trade test with Headmasters to open range of employment opportunities with a starting salary of approximately of £22K
Salon employment as a first year graduate, Cruise Ship, Hair Stylist in film and TV industry
The average starting salary for a full-time, newly qualified hairdresser is approximately £18K.
