With an emphasis on practical study in our outstanding manufacturing workshops, this course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to be able to carry out basic manufacturing processes including, fabrication, sheet metal work, lathe operation and welding. You will also learn some generic engineering skills that can apply to many different types of engineering, including, interpreting engineering drawings and engineering marking out.
As part of your programme of study you will also attend tutorial and take part in work experience. All learners who do not have a GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Mathematics will continue to study these subjects.

Our excellent engineering facilities comprise several workshops including Aeroplane hanger (including a helicopter rig!) computer facilities and study areas.

Level 1 City and Guilds Certificate in Engineering:
Level 1 City and Guilds Award in Metal Inert Gas (MIG) Welding:
Students are allocated a certain amount of free printing, after which a small fee will be incurred.
GCSEs grade 3 – 1 (or entry Level 3 literacy and numeracy).
For pre 16s no entry requirements but it is essential that applicants have a keen interest in the industry and willingness to learn.
Dependent upon GCSE Maths and English Grades this course can provide direct progression onto the Level 2 City and Guilds Diploma in Engineering – Manufacturing Technology course. Alternatively full time employment in the engineering manufacturing industry or a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Engineering Manufacturing.
