Applied Science – Forensics

Forensic scientists aid criminal investigations by collecting and analysing impartial scientific evidence for use in courts of law to support the prosecution or defence in criminal and civil investigations. You will have an enquiring mind, good communication skills and a methodical approach to work. You will gain a thorough understanding of relevant aspects of crime scene examination, human anatomy and physiology. The broad spectrum of skills learnt on these courses can be applied to a variety of university degrees and careers.

  • Level 2 BTEC First Extended Certificate in Applied Science

    The course enables you to develop skills, knowledge and understanding of ‘How Science Works’ through practical activities such as planning to test a scientific idea, collection and analysis of scientific data and working safely with others.  You will study current science issues through investigations using numerical data and using ICT to produce reports.

    Forensic science is the application of knowledge to answer criminal law decisions involving science. After the successful completion of Year 1, this extended Diploma (equivalent to 3 A-Levels) will prepare you for Higher Education or Employment.
