Kelly Tribe – Beauty Therapy Lecturer and IQA
I graduated from The University of the Arts London with my FdSc in Beauty Therapy and Health studies in 2004. Since then my career has been dedicated to learning new skills within the beauty and spa industry. I have worked in many roles within the industry including working for some of the world’s leading spas; Gleneagles and The Ritz Carlton to name a couple. I spent 4 years lecturing at one of London’s leading beauty colleges, teaching and mentoring many learners which came with fantastic reward. Good training and teaching is the only way our industry will continue to flourish and I am so lucky to have the chance to have an impact on this. I then joined Biologique Recherche,, a high end Parisian brand as their National Trainer for a year before deciding that education was definitely where my heart was and so left to take my role at Brooklands College as a lecturer and IQA. I have been in the Beauty Industry for 16 years and have worked with Brooklands college for the last 4.

Paulina Lipiec – Beauty Therapy Lecturer 
I am one of the Beauty Therapy Lecturers here at Brooklands College and also feel very fortunate to have studied here myself. Part of the Beauty team now at some point has also taught me – and now to call them my colleagues is incredible! I completed my Level 2 and Level 3 Diplomas in Beauty Therapy here and pursued my career by working in a number of salons. My heart had always stayed with advanced skin care and before becoming a lecturer I was working with amazing brands such as Alumier and trained in further treatments like Laser hair removal and skin rejuvenation and HIFU at SKIN lounge in Richmond Hill. I was fortunate to gain amazing knowledge during my time there but when I saw an opportunity for a role to teach at Brooklands, I had to take it because even through my time studying this was always my goal, to pass my knowledge and expertise onto the future generations of Beauty Therapists. I couldn’t think of a better place to work and I have never met such a hardworking and caring team as this. Alongside teaching, you will find me still working for myself as a self-employed beauty therapist and continuing to gain experience in this ever growing industry. One thing is true, you never stop learning.The biggest reward in my job is seeing past and present students excel in their fields, grow in themselves and create strong links to the industry whilst with us – I cannot wait to see what our future students accomplish. If there was one piece of advice I would give, is to continue to stay true to your goals, you will face multiple obstacles but the end result will be worth it. Not everyone has an easy ride, I look back on my time studying and I certainly didn’t but all it took was for someone to see potential in me and it brought me to the place I am in now and I am here to see that potential in each one of my students.

Olivia Long – Beauty Therapy Lecturer
I’m Olivia and am a beauty Tutor and lecturer here at Brooklands

I’ve been in this crazy, fast paced industry for over 15 years and have worked with some amazing people along the way. I first got into this industry after being on a music video set and seeing the singer get their nails done before the shoot, and thought “Wow, I want to be a nail tech”. So at 16 I enrolled in a part time manicure & pedicure course at my local college alongside an acrylic course and never looked back.

Once I qualified I began doing all of my friends and families nails and enrolled onto level 2 beauty. I had the most amazing lecturer who inspired me to become a beauty lecturer.

Fast forward a few years I opened my own beauty and aesthetics clinic, worked for Nails Inc, Fashion week and celebrity clients and haven’t looked back since.

I’d urge anyone wanting to get into this industry to go for it and buckle up- as it’s going to be a bumpy ride.

Laura Phipps – Hair and Media Make-up Lecturer
My name is Laura Odette Phipps and I am a part time Level 3 Hair and Media Makeup Lecturer at Brooklands College. Aside from teaching I work in the TV and Film Industry predominantly as a special effects artist and supervisor. I have been lucky enough to work on many large productions including ‘His Dark Materials’ for BBC One, ‘Dr Who’ and ‘The Witcher’ I also guest lecture around the country. I got into makeup after completing a Degree in the subject at The London College of Fashion in 2004. I then went on to work as a counter manager for various makeup brands in Selfridges London and moved into fashion shows and photography which I still do a bit of today however, I quickly realised my heart was more in tv, film and special effects.

I therefore decided to retrain in 2008 with multi award winning effects artist Neill Gorton. He then asked me to work for him at his workshops and on set and the ball began rolling from there. During this change I also decided to go into teaching and pass on my knowledge as I’m passionate about helping and love seeing the enthusiasm and creativity in the students. It is a very tough Industry and you have to be very resilient, adaptable and creative but I hope that with my experience I bring this into my classrooms at Brooklands and bring the best out of my students. It’s wonderful to work with such a giving and passionate team and it is definitely one of the best places I have been fortunate enough to teach.
