Passing Off Parade 2024

The Passing Off Parade for our Protective Services students was held at our Weybridge campus on the 28th of June 2024.

A term typically applied to the military ‘passing off the square’ referring to the completion of a soldiers basic military training. The parade is now familiar in all Protective Services to celebrate the completion of initial training whether this be in the Police, Fire Service or military.

Students formed up in three ranks awaiting the start of the parade. Marked by the ominous voice of James Plowright calling the students to attention and the Pipes and Drums band of the Gordons School striking their first notes.

Friends and family joined together to watch the students march around the grass area in front of reception before an inspection by our guest of honour Cllr Shannon Saise-Marshall former Mayor of Runnymede and former student, Matthew Stansfield, now serving with the UK’s immigration enforcement team.

This was followed by prize giving for those students who have performed above and beyond this year. Students were awarded prizes for:

Level 2 – Freddy Hay-Andrews

Level 3 Year 1 – Mason Tyler

Level 3 Year 2 – Tyler Wright
